MYTH-  Children who have poor disciplinary control often provoke a parent to physically abuse them.

FACT-  Children are never the cause of the abuse, but some factors such as stressors at home, conflict between the parents, lack of knowledge of parenting skills, financial problems, depression, a history of physical abuse, poor anger management abilities, divorce, and lack of impulse control by the parent can make physical abuse more likely.
